LATISSE and Brooke Shields
LATISSE™ eyelash lengthener started as a treatment for glaucoma in 2001. Longer, darker lashes were a surprising side effect, and the FDA approved its use in December 2008.
Users of LATISSE™, which requires a doctor prescription, simply brush a thin line of liquid on their upper lash line every night before bed.

LATISSE™ was introduced in the first quarter of 2009 by Allergan as the first drug to receive FDA approval for eyelash growth. Latisse is a weak concentration of bimatropost, the active component of the glaucoma medication Lumigan. According to Allergan, noticeable eyelash growth occurs within 16 weeks. Growth is reported to occur primarily on the upper eyelashes.

LATISSE

How does it work?
LATISSE™ is to believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in 2 ways: first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. The exact way it works in unknown.
How soon will I see results?
The onset of effect with LATISSE™ solution is gradual. In clinical trial, the majority of LATISSE™ users saw a significant improvement by 2 months. Growth is reported to occur primarily on the upper eyelashes.
How is LATISSE™ different?
Only LATISSE™ has been approved by the FDA as a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes. It is also has been studied in clinical trial to demonstrate safety and effectiveness.
Can anyone use LATISSE™?
You should not use LATISSE™ solution if you are allergic to one of its ingredients. Also, tell your doctor or eye care specialist if any of the following apply to you;
Previously diagnosed with eye pressure problems;
Currently taking medication for eye pressure problems:
Have risk factors for glaucoma.
